Reunion 2011 Details!

From Kay Gregorich:

Greetings, Watkins Family! Can you believe the reunion is less than two months from now?!! Please see the following lists which includes our daily activity list and the menu. The food list only applies to those of us who will be staying at Kokopelli Lodge for some/all of the weekend (If you would like to contribute, see Kay!) You know who you are and you know the drill. While the food list is long, we are hoping to avoid the over abundance of food that seems to collect on the counters and in the pantry every year. And, this should eliminate some waste, not to mention freeing up some space in the car on the trip down.

As usual, please bring your own drinks for your family. We will have the gin bucket, but are asking for donations for the ingredients. On the day of the actual reunion, please bring a covered dish. Per my conversation with Bob Monday, the current plan is to serve chicken, pork and/or brisket (subject to change). This is going to be quite an expense, so I told him the rest of us would be glad to bring the side dishes and desserts.

Please pay special attention to the activities sheet. I have gone into some detail about most of them and it will help everyone to know what to expect. Most notable are the fireworks and float trip. However, if you have questions, ask Jim...Just kidding. Simply email me and I will do my best to get answers. I'll most likely ask Jim. ;-) Please get your camper reservation in with Bob so he can be prepared to accommodate us. I told him I thought there would be 7 campers there, but Amanda told me she wasn't planning to bring hers as she doesn't have a way to pull it. As of now, there are 6 electrical services for the campers. Bob was kind enough to offer to put in another one if needed. Bob, please add my camper to the list.

For anyone that I've missed, please forward this to them. I'm sure there are lots of people that need to be included, but I don't have the necessary email addresses. And, I'm very hopeful that some of the cousins we haven't seen in some time as well as those we have yet to meet will find a way to make it this year. Rumor has it some of my nephews and their families from San Antonio will be there. What a great time we'll have! It's high time we had a group picture. We haven't taken one since 2006 or 2007...who has the sign?

FRIDAY:
FLOAT -
We need to get a head count for the people who will be going on the float. Bob said he has 8 canoes. He wants to know if he needs to get his hand on more. Shove off is at approximately noon. We'll have a quick & easy lunch before leaving.
MUSIC-
Compliments of Jim's DJ service. Have those requests ready, folks.
SATURDAY-Reunion Day:
GROUP PHOTO -
Taken by Andrea!
SLIP & SLIDE -
Kay is bringing a giant roll of plastic. Anyone have a can of cooking spray?
The adult to child ratio in this activity is approximately 2 to 1. Boys will be boys…
SHOOTING GUNS -
self explanatory
MINUTE TO WIN IT - Jim is working on this & it will be fun!
KIDS NERF GUN COMPETITION -We thought shooting at empty soda cans would be good. But, we're open to othe suggestions. Kids, (big & small) bring those nerf guns!
FIRE WORKS-
If we want fireworks this year, we all need to chip in to offset the cost. Bob usually spends somewhere around $300 for the display. If there are enough people willing to donate, Bob will purchase them. Send an email with your commitment amount so Bob knows where everyone stands.
MUSIC-
Compliments of Jim's DJ service. Have those requests ready, folks.

Non-Specific
BUCKET LIST-
Bring your list and, if you don't mind sharing, it will be posted on a bulletin board for others to see. We're family. Don't be bashful, people!
TIME CAPSULE -
Everyone bring something to put in it and we'll open it in 20 years or some other agreed upon date. We thought we would put the items in a Rubbermaid container for now and discuss a more permanent location when we get down there. This leads to the placement of the memorial stones Judy and Teresa made. More on that at the reunion…
SWIMMING-
In the lake. Bring a suit.
FISHING-
In the lake. Bring your own tackle.

Menu:

THURSDAY
LUNCH:
Mabel is bringing sausage patties like she did last year, but depending on your arrival
time, you may need to do your own thing. Rest assured, you won't starve in our family!
DINNER:
Fried fish, French fries, hush puppies and cole slaw. We will also have hot dogs for people
who don't prefer fish. Bob thought they would be easy to throw on the grill.
FRIDAY
BREAKFAST:
Sarah has kindly volunteered to make her famous pancakes again this year. We will also
have bacon and sausage to go with them. And, there will be other breakfast foods.
LUNCH:
We thought some quick and easy sandwiches would be in order so we can get going on the
much anticipated float.
DINNER:
Jim and Andrea will be making fajitas and all the fixings. This includes fresh pico de gallo,
fresh tortilla chips for dipping, Judy's salsa, fresh guacamole, Mexican rice and taco meat for
anyone not too keen on fajitas. We could also scrounge up some hot dogs if necessary.
SATURDAY- Reunion Day!
BREAKFAST:
Everyone can fend for themselves on pastries, etc.
LUNCH:
Traditional reunion fare…some kind of delicious meat prepared by Uncle Fred and lots of
sides, which the rest of us will bring.
DINNER:
See above lunch listing.
SUNDAY:
Grab whatever didn't get eaten in the previous 3 days and head home!
